At first we had planned to take a boat from Lazise to Sirmione but as I’d been feeling unwell, we thought the car would offer us more flexibility. We didn’t even make it very close to the centre when we were redirected by traffic police. Soon, we realised why – Sirmione is located on a narrow peninsula jutting into Lake Garda, and traffic is an absolute nightmare. From where we parked, it was about a 1km walk in the heat, but at least we were moving instead of sitting in the traffic jam that many cars and busses were stuck in.
It was worth the visit though, very beautiful.
