Ethnic radio in Brisbane, Radio 4EBFM
The Dutch Radio Group was one of the first language groups to commence broadcasting on Radio 4EB in 1979. Dutch migrants had arrived in Australia during the nineteen-fifties and sixties. Those migrants were mainly born in either The Netherlands or the former Dutch East Indies. These migrants appreciated hearing their language on the radio, which also reinforced their Dutch language skills and knowledge.
Throughout the years, Australia has remained a magnet for Dutch people, who settled either permanently or temporarily. As a result, Dutch speaking people are very well represented in the South East Queensland community. Our current broadcasters and technical producers represent most age groups and really enjoy sharing news, current affairs and the Dutch language with you.
