Every now and then you stumble across an artwork that really affects you.
The 100.000 Bomen en een bos van draad was in The Hague City Hall when I visited one day and just enchanted me.
I was then fortunate to come across the artist, Sara Vrugt, herself at an event I attended! She spoke at “Party for Planet” at The Hague Tech on 21 April 2023.
Once I learned more about the project I was even more impressed.
She kindly gifted me a pack of cards and a poster of the artwork, which is now at home in my own forest in The Hague…
English translation of the project.
In 2020, artist Sara Vrugt embroidered a forest together with more than 1,000 people. In 2022, with donations from participants, 100,000 new trees were planted. With this project, we jointly realised a work of art and a new living forest.
The canvas can now be seen in various exhibitions. In 2025, it will reach its final point, in a museum garden, to fuse with nature and decay

I discovered it when it was at the Atrium van het Haagse Stadhuis,
20 november tot en met 16 december 2022.
I was there on 15 December, and am glad I caught the exhibition just before it ended.
In 2025, the project will end with the cloth being planted! I hope to be able to be there.
