Dirigent en altviolist Simon Murphy trakteert op een feestelijke verjaardagsconcert vol lievelingswerken, die alle een bijzondere invloed hebben gehad op zijn persoonlijk muzikale levenspad door de jaren heen. Op het programma staat het geliefde Altvioolconcert in G van Telemann, sprankelende symfonieën van J. Stamitz, C.F. Abel en de ‘Nederlandse Haydn’ Joseph Schmitt, maar ook ‘hernieuwde’ muzikale schatten van Murphy en de New Dutch Academy’s huidige project en komende album, Dutch Crown Jewels. Een rij muzikale toetjes van Bach en Händel sluiten het programma af.

Conductor and violist Simon Murphy gives a festive birthday concert full of favourite works each of which has played a special part in his own personal musical path over the years. The programme features Telemann’s popular viola concerto in G, symphonies by J. Stamitz, C.F. Abel and the “Dutch Haydn” Joseph Schmitt, as well as musical treasures from Murphy and the New Dutch Academy’s current project and forthcoming album, Dutch Crown Jewels. A selection of musical sweets by Bach and Handel complete the programme.
