After a ten-year absence, SAIL will return to Amsterdam!

From August 20 to 24 in 2025, Amsterdam will once again be the meeting place for international Tall Ships, crew members and millions of visitors from all over the world. Thousands of ships and boats will form the backdrop for the largest and freely accessible event in the Netherlands. A number of international Tall Ships will even be coming to SAIL for the first time. In addition, a unique concert series has been added to the programme: SAIL On Stage, four concerts in the unique SAIL 2025 setting.

Traditionally, SAIL is opened with the SAIL-In Parade : an impressive spectacle in which a fleet of Tall Ships and historic ships sails into the IJhaven. A highlight for both visitors and crew members who have often been travelling for months to reach Amsterdam.

At a large-scale event like SAIL, which is also freely accessible, volunteers play an indispensable role. The involvement is also enormous for this upcoming anniversary edition: registration has therefore already closed six months before the start because all available positions have been filled. Registration for the Floating Heritage has also now closed. There were 700 available places, but the interest is many times greater.

And fortunately, many international Tall Ships and ships from the Dutch Fleet are also present. We are working on an impressive line-up of these ships, the first fifteen of which are already visible on SAIL.nl.

For example, our flagship Clipper Stad Amsterdam , the BAP Union from Peru, one of the largest Tall Ships in the world that is coming to Amsterdam for the first time and the fine El Galeón from Spain. How great is it that the ARM Cuauhtémoc from Mexico is coming back for the first time since 1985. And last week we were able to add another scoop: the Shabab Oman II will be on display for the first time during SAIL!”
