Having lived my life between two countries for decades now, I’m always looking for nice gift ideas.

Something that is light, affordable, can be easily carried in luggage or posted overseas is window stickers.

I bought this lovely one in Australia at the Bird World in my home town of Maleny, Queensland and it’s now on my window in The Hague.

Sadly the border got damaged, but it’s nice and bright, even on the dark, grey days here in the Netherlands. It reminds me of birds I grew up seeing and hearing in Australia. I have a particularly strong memory of when I was a child, I used to love pressing the buttons in the Brisbane Museum and hearing all the bird sounds.

I also bought some Dutch window stickers of traditional row houses a while ago, but am going to have to hunt for them! Will share more when I find them.
