This year, I’m excited to again be travelling from the Netherlands to Australia to visit my family. My daughters and I all have dual nationality and travel with 2 passports so don’t need a visa.
My partner holds a Dutch partner and this will be his 2nd visit. We bought tickets a while ago and almost forgot that he will need to organise a visitor’s visa. We will be going to Australia for just under a month.
Does he need to pay for an Australian visa on a Dutch passport?
He found it confusing when searching online, as there are several places that say they offer this – but for a fee. For example via ANWB: https://www.anwb.nl/vakantie/reisvoorbereiding/visum-aanvragen/australie

Though, if you read further, they do explain here, that you can do an online eVisitor request for free in this situation:
https://www.anwb.nl/vakantie/australie/reisvoorbereiding/reisdocumenten#persoonsdocumenten

So basically, they then explain that if you do this via the Australian Immigration service directly, this is free. They still mention a service cost via the app, though I’m not sure which app they mean.
Australian Embassy in the Netherlands
So I went to (re)confirm this via the information on the Australian Embassy in the Netherlands website:. They do not issue visas but are a trusted source for the relevant information.

Make sure you click through to this link to get up to date information: https://netherlands.embassy.gov.au/thag/visas_and_migration.html
Evisitor Visa
So this is the visa he needs for our visit (of just under a month):

How long does it take?
At the moment it should only take a day.

You need to create an account online and go through the process there, which is explained very clearly on the website. We’ll do that soon!
