Today and tomorrow it’s the NATO Summit in The Hague. Last weekend, I took a walk around the World Forum area to preview the many, many road closures and fences, and to see buildings that have been constructed literally in the middle of the road.
There’s been regular military and police escorts for all the attendees and helicopters often overhead. It’s interesting and extreme. The simultaneous Just Peace The Hague festival is a reminder that The Hague is known as the “city of peace and justice”. I hope that this incredible expense of bringing world leaders together in person in our beautiful city can help heal our world.
Over at The Hague Online I publish news, events and information to keep the international community in The Hague up to date in English. I’m not personally reporting on the summit but there are several articles and links for information, such as this live blog:

and the official NATO website is here: https://www.government.nl/topics/nato-summit-2025
