A huge thanks to the Australian and New Zealand Club in The Netherlands for hosting a fun summer BBQ last weekend. Unfortunately, as soon as you plan a BBQ here in The Netherlands, it seems the weather will be unco-operative! It didn’t bother our little Dutch Australians too much though…
Held at Boomerang Beachclub at Scheveningen, it was a beautiful location. I’ve never been before, but plan on going back on a sunny day – it’s a great place to hang out in the summer, with plenty of room indoors for the unpredictable Dutch weather. As you’ll see in the photos below, there were plenty of Aussie touches to make us feel at home!
The BBQ lunch was delicious – unlike a “traditional Aussie BBQ” where you stand around watching the meat cook, here it all just magically appeared…and there were plenty of tastes from Down Under that are generally harder to find here – like prawns, corn on the cob and calamari.
Dessert was delicious cupcakes from Deli Mary, graced with an edible version of the lovely new ANZC logo. The club has recently re-branded to drop the “women” word from the original Australian and New Zealand Women’s Club to better reflect the club diversity.
We had a lovely mix of Australians, New Zealanders, and of course Dutch partners and the children enjoyed themselves too. Australian Ambassador to The Netherlands, H.E. Neil Mules also joined us and Australian brand Lorna Jane which is soon to launch in The Netherlands provided a prize.
All in all, it was a lovely day with good food, great company and made us smile!
You can connect with the Australian and New Zealand Club in The Netherlands via the ANZC Facebook page or the ANZC website.
