Yesterday I attended a press event at Museon Omniversum in The Hague, to watch Fungi: Web of Life.
What a pleasant surprise to see that it was actually an Australian production, and featured Tasmania’s amazing ancient Tarkine rainforest.
There was also a strong Dutch connection, with Dutch photographer Wim van Egmond responsible for all the time-lapse images of the growing fungi in the film.
Whether you are Dutch, Australian – or any other nationality – this movie is incredibly eye-opening about the importance of these ecosystems to all of us on earth.

If you’re in The Netherlands, this is currently screening at Museon Omniversum in The Hague. While you’re there, I also highly recommend checking out the Groene Camera/Green Camera exhibition.
In Australia, it’s not currently listed, but keep an eye on their website for screenings: https://www.fungimovie.com/theaters
There is also a great educational resource on their website to learn more about…though it’s labeled as being for grades 3-8, I think it’s interesting for all ages!
